Geospatial Analysis Specialist

Role Overview

We are looking for a Geospatial Analysis Specialist to support AI training initiatives through high-quality geospatial work. In this contract role, you will use your domain knowledge to help improve how next-generation models learn, reason, and perform. Prior AI experience is not required.

Core Responsibilities

• Set up, oversee, and keep spatial databases current while preserving data accuracy and consistency across assignments.
• Carry out advanced geoprocessing and spatial modeling in QGIS and turn the output into practical insights.
• Build, tailor, and support QGIS plugins and extensions based on project needs.
• Streamline geospatial analysis tasks with Python and PyQGIS to make workflows faster and easier to reproduce.
• Create polished maps and visual materials for reports, presentations, and decision-making support.
• Work closely with cross-functional teammates to interpret requirements and convert them into geospatial solutions.
• Explain technical ideas clearly in both writing and speech to technical as well as non-technical stakeholders.

Skills and Qualifications

• Advanced working knowledge of QGIS, including spatial databases, geoprocessing, and map creation.
• Strong Python skills, with practical experience automating QGIS tasks through PyQGIS.
• Solid understanding of spatial projections, coordinate reference systems, and data conversion.
• Ability to customize QGIS through scripting or plugin development.
• Excellent communication skills for different audience types.
• Ability to produce professional-quality cartographic outputs for a range of business or technical uses.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay organized while handling several priorities at once.

Preferred Background

Experience in remote or distributed teams serving external clients is an advantage. Familiarity with other open-source GIS tools or cloud geospatial platforms is also helpful. Candidates with experience in spatial analysis for environmental science, urban planning, or resource management are especially relevant.

Additional Information

This role is listed as remote and based out of Phoenix, AZ. It is a full-time contract position. The brief notes that no prior AI background is necessary, since the focus is on your subject-matter expertise.
