About the Role
Scotiabank is hiring a Quality Engineer to support its global Payments and Core Banking Engineering team in Toronto, Ontario. The position sits within a purpose-led, high-performing environment that focuses on safe innovation, modernization, and improved customer experiences in payments technology.
The role contributes to the success of the wider engineering organization by helping deliver team goals and ensuring all work complies with applicable regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, enhance, and maintain automated test suites that support product quality.
- Troubleshoot automation code and verify that it meets strong quality expectations.
- Test newly developed applications and prepare clear, detailed documentation and findings.
- Investigate complex technical problems and work toward effective resolutions.
- Partner with senior stakeholders while also coaching and supporting junior colleagues.
- Tackle difficult issues with thoughtful, strategic problem-solving approaches.
- Keep current with new technologies and contribute ideas that strengthen innovation across the team.
Team and Working Environment
The team is made up of roughly 5 to 7 cross-functional members and is based in Toronto, Canada. The role is part of an environment that works across multiple technologies, business areas, and stakeholders, with an emphasis on enabling delivery teams across the enterprise.
What You Bring
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Hands-on experience with one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
- Strong working knowledge of test automation and QA tools, including Selenium, Robot, and Postman.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation ability.
- A self-driven, goal-focused approach to work.
- The ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage work in a fast-moving setting.
- Payments and SWIFT domain knowledge is an advantage, including familiarity with SWIFT, FED, and ISO20022.
- Exposure to Google-based AI tools is considered a plus.
