About the Role
EY is looking for a highly capable Senior Manager to step into a Snowflake Solution Architect position in Auckland. The role sits at the intersection of data engineering and integration, with a strong emphasis on creating cloud data and AI solutions using Snowflake and the broader ecosystem of supporting tools. You will help shape solution architecture, data ingestion and transformation workflows, data models, and data products, while also building intuitive ways for users to access and explore complex data through visualisation tools and natural language interfaces.
This opportunity also includes guiding and supporting junior colleagues through mentorship and technical leadership, contributing to a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
Location and Working Arrangements
This position is based in EY’s Auckland office to align with client needs. Flexible working arrangements may be available, including the possibility of reduced hours, and candidates are encouraged to discuss options with the employer.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Snowflake-based solution architectures.
- Create data models and develop pipelines for data ingestion and transformation.
- Connect Snowflake with the wider set of tools in the data ecosystem.
- Build scalable and reliable ingestion and transformation pipelines on Snowflake.
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business and data requirements and convert them into technical solutions.
- Provide coaching and technical direction to junior team members.
- Keep up with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and related fields.
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate brings demonstrated experience in delivering Snowflake solutions, designing data platform architectures, and applying a variety of data modelling approaches. Strong capability in data engineering, scalable pipeline development, and writing efficient SQL is important, as is experience integrating Snowflake with data processing frameworks.
Additional strengths that would be valuable include familiarity with Snowflake Horizon Catalog, programming experience in Python, Java, or Scala, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to explain technical topics clearly to non-technical audiences. A collaborative, proactive mindset and experience mentoring or technically leading others would also be advantageous.
