About the Role

Flogas MGS supports patient care by making sure critical medical gases, including oxygen, nitrous oxide, and medical air, are delivered safely and efficiently. The team covers the full service cycle, from system planning and installation through to maintenance and round-the-clock support, helping healthcare organisations maintain the highest standards. Flogas MGS works with both the NHS and private healthcare providers, ensuring operations remain safe, efficient, and compliant with relevant regulatory requirements.

Role Overview

As a Yardhand, you will support the Facilities Manager in keeping all FMG areas in safe, well-maintained condition. You will also provide support to the distribution team when needed and approved by the Line Manager. The role includes helping manage stock levels for consumables and spare parts used across the FMG business, along with carrying out pre-use checks on forklifts and pump trucks.

Key Duties

• Handle the loading and unloading of medical gas cylinders from vehicles and trailers, following secure lifting, handling, and stacking methods.
• Work in line with company procedures, health and safety rules, and HSE guidance at all times.
• Spot and report near misses and hazards to help maintain a strong safety-first workplace.
• Keep the yard tidy, organised, and free from clutter or obstacles.
• Use equipment such as forklifts to move and store cylinders and related items safely.
• Carry out general maintenance work across FMG sites within your level of competence.

Requirements

• A valid driving licence is required.
• You should be comfortable working both as part of a team and on your own, with a dependable and initiative-driven approach.
• Strong understanding of health and safety, especially when working with hazardous materials, is important.
• You must be physically fit and bring a positive, hands-on attitude.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills are needed for accurate pre-use checks and stock control.
• Good communication skills are essential for working well with colleagues and managers.
• You should be flexible, adaptable, and able to manage several tasks and shifting priorities.
• A trustworthy, honest, and reliable work ethic with a clear commitment to safety is expected.
