Role Overview
This position is for a CAD Design Engineer supporting powertrain-focused cooling system work in Pune. The assignment covers design activities for cooling system parts such as hoses, degas tanks, radiators, pumps, valves, and related components.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as a full-time design engineer within the powertrain team, with emphasis on cooling-system commodities.
- Prepare CAD outputs for parts including hoses, degas tanks, heat exchangers, and similar items.
- Coordinate with multiple stakeholders to deliver complete, end-to-end design solutions.
- Apply a strong understanding of vehicle packaging guidelines while developing designs.
- Use appropriate plastic and sheet-metal design rules, along with the associated manufacturing methods.
- Support or lead design reviews and revisions while keeping feasibility and schedule in mind.
- Ensure CAD work is completed on time for S/T/P releases.
- Handle commodity release and change-management activities effectively.
- Maintain awareness of Proto and Production BOM structures.
- Use CATIA V5 and CATIA V6 effectively for 2D and 3D design work.
- Work with PLM systems such as TeamCenter and use MS Office tools including SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Apply GD&T principles accurately in day-to-day design tasks.
Experience and Requirements
- Should have 2 to 4 years of relevant experience.
- Must have automotive domain experience, specifically with cooling-system commodities.
- Strong hands-on capability in CATIA V5 and CATIA V6 for both 2D and 3D modeling.
- Exposure to PLM platforms such as TeamCenter is required.
- Knowledge of GD&T is mandatory.
- Should be comfortable using Microsoft tools such as SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Need a solid understanding of plastic and sheet-metal design guidelines and manufacturing processes.
- Should be able to work with stakeholders and manage design changes within feasibility and timeline constraints.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a closely related field.
