Electronic Security Engineer

About the Role

Red Wolf Security, part of Johnson Controls, is a New Zealand security specialist known for delivering mission-critical protection in demanding, high-compliance settings. The business focuses on tailored security outcomes rather than standard, off-the-shelf offerings, with work spanning site assessments, solution design, installation, asset oversight, and long-term support.

An experienced Field Engineer is now needed for the Auckland team. This is a senior, hands-on technical position with involvement in design, delivery, troubleshooting, and client support across new and existing projects throughout New Zealand.

What You’ll Do

• Assess sites, shape security concepts, and engineer new solutions
• Plan and implement system upgrades and expansions
• Take charge on site as foreman on larger or more complex jobs
• Install, configure, program, and commission electronic security systems
• Provide technical guidance and product support to business development and tender teams
• Support customers and internal teams with technical problem-solving
• Create detailed project records such as cable schedules, configuration sheets, and site photos
• Complete handover and close-out documents, including as-built records, CAD drawings, asset updates, and monitoring information
• Participate in an out-of-hours on-call roster
• Carry out preventative servicing as well as reactive maintenance
• Coach and assist junior technicians
• Oversee health and safety on allocated projects
• Contribute broad senior-level expertise across electronic security engineering work

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have strong field experience delivering electronic security work and a practical, solutions-driven approach. You should be confident engaging with clients, working independently, and troubleshooting complex issues under pressure.

Applicants must hold, or be able to obtain and maintain, New Zealand Government National Security Clearance at Secret level or higher. The role also requires a willingness to travel across New Zealand and internationally as needed.

Experience and Qualifications

• Background in delivering electronic security solutions in field-based environments
• Hands-on CCTV experience, including deployment and support
• Good working knowledge of IT infrastructure and networking
• Ability to work directly with clients and stakeholders
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving capability
• Bachelor of Information Technology in Network & Infrastructure Systems, or equivalent industry experience
• Experience with API integrations and collaboration with software development teams
• Comfort using Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and similar tools

Preferred Certifications

• Experience with Bosch, Gallagher, or similar enterprise security platforms
• Network and infrastructure administration certifications
• Site Safe certification
• Microsoft ecosystem certifications
