Offshore Project Manager

Role overview

This position sits at the centre of Ireland’s energy transition and supports the development, operation, and transformation of the electricity grid toward a low-carbon future. The work is focused on enabling the grid to carry a much higher share of renewable power while supporting the country’s long-term economic growth.

The role is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Dublin City, County Dublin, with a hybrid working pattern of 2 days in the office and 3 days working remotely.

What you will do

You will lead the project management and project engineering effort for technically demanding, large-scale offshore asset management initiatives, making sure delivery stays on schedule, within budget, and aligned with governance and control requirements.

The role covers the full project lifecycle, from initiation through construction, commissioning, user acceptance testing, go-live, and final close-out with lessons learned captured.

A major part of the work involves preparing and issuing functional and technical specifications for Phase 1 and Phase 2 offshore developer-led and plan-led projects, then working closely with internal and external stakeholders to address technical questions and confirm that connections to the transmission system meet offshore standards.

You will also contribute to project design reviews and site inspections across contestable and non-contestable transmission projects to ensure compliance with functional specifications and relevant standards.

The offshore function works within this wider environment to keep technology strategy and offshore programme execution aligned.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will bring an engineering degree or an equivalent qualification, along with around 8 years of relevant experience and a broad understanding of the power sector.

They should have a strong background in managing a portfolio of large-scale asset management projects and in leading complex solutions through to successful delivery.

Experience with HV transmission design is essential, including the ability to review designs for compliance with standards and requirements.

Strong communication skills are needed, including the ability to explain technical analysis and concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and business leaders.

The role also calls for the ability to coach and develop high-performing teams in a changing environment, as well as the creativity to introduce practical new approaches that solve business problems in collaboration with subject matter experts.

A solid understanding of stakeholder and industry requirements for the transmission system and associated developments is important, along with commercial awareness and strong vendor management capability.

A full driving licence is required.
