About AECOM

AECOM is a global infrastructure consulting company focused on helping communities and businesses through projects that improve transport, utilities, water access, energy systems, buildings, and urban environments. The organisation works across advisory, planning, design, engineering, program management, and construction management, with a large international team delivering work that creates long-term impact.

The company emphasizes collaboration, technical excellence, inclusion, and environmental, social, and governance priorities. It offers flexibility in how and where work is done, with hybrid arrangements available.

Role Overview

As an Advisory Consultant in Procurement, you will act as a strategic procurement specialist within the Advisory business. The role focuses on shaping procurement approaches for complex construction and infrastructure projects, helping clients choose the right delivery model, commercial structure, and sourcing route, and ensuring the procurement process is managed effectively from start to finish.

You will work closely with clients and internal teams to develop market-tested procurement strategies, support business growth, and contribute to improvements in the service offering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take the lead on, or provide support to, major projects and programmes as the procurement subject matter expert.
  • Advise clients by understanding their objectives and project drivers, then guide them in selecting the best delivery model, contract approach, commercial framework, and route to market.
  • Run competitive procurement activities, including market engagement, supplier shortlisting, tender preparation, tender administration, evaluation, and negotiation.
  • Provide guidance on commercial matters, category strategy, and performance management.
  • Contribute to proposal development and other work-winning activities.
  • Help evolve and strengthen the wider strategic procurement service offering.
  • Work alongside colleagues across disciplines to deliver high-quality outcomes and integrated solutions for clients.
  • Use the role as an opportunity to grow professionally in a leading business environment.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Three to five years of post-qualification experience leading procurement on complex construction and infrastructure assignments.
  • Hands-on experience managing the full procurement lifecycle, from sourcing through contract management.
  • Background in project or programme management, with the ability to handle several projects at once.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with the confidence to influence, question, and be seen as a trusted advisor.
  • Practical experience in strategic sourcing, category management, and contract management.

Desirable Background

  • MCIPS or MRICS accreditation, either already achieved or with willingness to work toward it.
  • Working knowledge of public sector procurement requirements, including the Public Contracts Regulations or equivalent, the Capital Works Management Framework, and Infrastructure Guidelines.
  • Familiarity with standard contract forms such as PWC, NEC, JCT, and FIDIC.

Additional Information

All new hires must complete in-person onboarding on Day 1 at an AECOM office, as part of the company’s recruitment security process.

The role is offered with hybrid working flexibility, and work may be carried out from an office, a remote location, or a client site.

AECOM also provides compensation, benefits, and well-being programs designed to support employees and their families.

The company is an equal opportunity employer, a Disability Confident Employer, and will interview applicants with a disability or long-term condition who meet the minimum essential criteria. Confidential handling of applicant information is maintained in line with EEO guidelines.
