Role Overview

This position focuses on supporting the organisation’s information security solutions. The successful candidate will handle first- and second-line support for key security technologies and help maintain the systems that protect the bank against cyber threats. The role also serves as the main contact point for end-user escalations related to security technology issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive cost awareness, efficiency, and productivity improvements to reduce waste and maximise value for the bank.
  • Implement service KPIs and established practices for Security Technologies Services while working within delegated authority.
  • Support the ongoing delivery of cyber security technologies and services under the guidance of the AVP – Cyber Security Technologies & Services.
  • Provide first-level support for core security solutions in line with the group’s business goals.
  • Help run operational procedures, standards, and guidelines related to service management, incident and problem handling, change management, and configuration management.
  • Assist users with installation and troubleshooting of bank-supported security products on their devices.
  • Review IT and business change requests that affect security controls, including firewall-related reviews.
  • Support customers with queries related to the bank’s products and help resolve their requests.
  • Track service delivery in accordance with SLAs and work to improve turnaround times for internal departments and units.
  • Build strong working relationships across departments to support the group’s objectives.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to auditors, compliance, financial control, and risk teams when needed.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of the bank’s information security programme.
  • Develop, implement, and manage technical security standards and the associated tools and services used to reduce security risk.
  • Assess how new technologies affect the bank’s overall security posture.
  • Put in place review steps for new technology implementations to confirm security compliance.
  • Ensure audit findings and regulatory gaps are closed promptly.
  • Understand business processes and controls across relevant operational areas.
  • Apply strong knowledge of information security principles, best practices, and IT systems.
  • Build training and awareness programmes for the team and advise operating units at all levels on security risks, best practices, and vulnerabilities.
  • Take ownership of personal learning and professional development.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the security field.
  • Help resolve internal team conflicts or unresolved grievances quickly.
  • Follow all applicable legal, regulatory, and internal compliance requirements, including AML & CTF, Sanctions Policy, Data Protection Policy, Fraud Control Policy, Whistle Blowing Policy, Conflict of Interest Policy, and Insider Dealing Policy.
  • Perform responsibilities in line with the Three Lines of Defence model for identifying, measuring, monitoring, managing, and reporting risk.
  • Protect sensitive and confidential data at all times.
  • Share customer and internal information strictly on a need-to-know basis with senior management, Audit, Compliance, and relevant regulators.
  • Maintain high professional standards that support QNB’s reputation and market leadership.
  • Carry out any other related duties assigned by management from time to time.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, ideally in a highly rated international bank or large corporate environment, with a focus on information security engineering.
  • Professional certification such as CISSP is required.
  • Security engineering certifications and qualifications in Microsoft operating systems (for example, MCSA, MCSE, and similar credentials) or Linux (for example, RHCP and similar credentials) are required.
