About the role

Transdev is hiring a Field Human Resources Manager in Burnsville, Minnesota. This position plays an important part in supporting the management team by handling end-to-end recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and core HR operations. The right candidate will be service-minded, safety-focused, and comfortable building strong relationships in both union and non-union settings. The role requires someone who can help shape and execute HR plans, keep the organization compliant with laws and regulations, and contribute to a workplace culture that is respectful, engaged, and productive. Responsibilities

  • Build strong working partnerships with operational leaders so HR plans support business goals, with emphasis on safety, efficiency, and employee engagement.
  • Apply and explain company policies while maintaining compliance in union and non-union environments, including discipline matters, employee relations, and labor law requirements.
  • Support operational needs related to HIPAA/PHI, engagement efforts, and the creation of a safe, respectful, and fair workplace.
  • Keep employee files, handbooks, recognition initiatives, and HR records accurate, updated, and organized.
  • Work with leadership to create proactive employee relations approaches that encourage open communication and help resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Advise branch managers on employee relations issues, corrective action, labor law compliance, and legal obligations, using outside legal support when needed.
  • Monitor developments in HR trends, regulations, and best practices that affect employment policies and procedures.
  • Oversee payroll activities, accounts payable, fare collection, and associated financial processing tasks.
  • Handle employment-related administration such as pension processes, union dues, unemployment claims, workers’ compensation, disability, and leave management.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of direct experience in human resources and labor relations management, ideally in transportation or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with recruiting, onboarding, terminations, and benefits administration.
  • Solid understanding of employment legislation, HR policies, and compliance expectations.
  • Background in employee relations, conflict resolution, and building positive workplace partnerships.
  • Capability to manage payroll, benefits, and other HR administrative responsibilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and connect with different stakeholders.
  • HR certifications or other relevant professional development credentials are an advantage.
  • Must be able to meet DOT drug testing and physical requirements if applicable, in line with 49 CFR Part 40.
