Kitchen Porter

Overview

We are looking for a Kitchen Porter in Ashford (TN24 0LU) to help keep the kitchen organised, hygienic and running efficiently. This is a full-time, on-site role with a schedule of 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 07:30 to 15:00. The pay is £12.71 per hour.

What the role is about

This position suits someone who takes pride in a tidy workspace, works well under pressure and pays close attention to detail. You will support the wider kitchen team in delivering a smooth, high-quality hospitality service, while contributing to a positive, inclusive and collaborative environment.

Key duties

• Clean dishes, tools and kitchen equipment manually or with industrial dishwashing machines.
• Keep preparation areas, counters and other kitchen surfaces cleaned and sanitised.
• Clear waste and ensure rubbish is disposed of correctly.
• Help chefs with basic food prep tasks such as peeling, chopping and slicing.
• Receive, store and organise food items and kitchen supplies.
• Help maintain health, safety, cleanliness and the proper working condition of kitchen equipment.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant will have stamina for physically active work, the ability to remain on their feet for long periods, and the confidence to lift heavier items when needed. You should be able to follow instructions, communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a team. Prior knowledge of kitchen equipment and sanitation practices would be an advantage, but it is not essential.
