Lead Cost Engineer

Role overview

This position is for a Lead Cost Engineer supporting a major project in Dhalm, Saudi Arabia. The assignment is onsite with an office/project work setup and international relocation to camp accommodation authorized.

About the project

The role sits on the Ar Rjum Project, a greenfield gold development that includes three open-pit mining operations, waste dumps, ore stockpiles, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure such as water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, and both temporary and permanent accommodation villages. The project is located in the Central Arabian Gold Region, roughly 200 km north-east of Taif toward Riyadh and about 26 km south of Al Mouwayh on the Jeddah-Riyadh highway.

What you will do

• Lead cost estimating, analysis, and control work for projects that involve unusual requirements or require a high level of technical expertise.
• Develop practical solutions to complex cost engineering issues.
• Create and apply project cost control requirements in line with company and client contractual obligations, goals, and procedures.
• Ensure work stays on schedule while supporting project administrative and organizational activities.
• Prepare cost studies using historical information, statistical methods, and comparisons of costs and quantities.
• Review cost trends for efficiency opportunities and recommend alternatives when needed.
• Keep communication flowing with other teams to support cost engineering analysis and control efforts.

Experience and qualifications

A bachelor’s degree or international equivalent is required, along with either 10 to 13 years of relevant experience or 14 to 17 years of related work experience.

Skills and knowledge required

Strong experience is needed in directing project cost engineering activities, including cost control, cost analysis, cost reporting, incurred cost assessment, and meeting facilitation. You should also be familiar with setting criteria for project controls cost activities and handling cost, commitment, and incurred cost analysis and management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, especially the ability to present project controls information to management and clients. Advanced knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up work processes is also expected, along with practical understanding of engineering and construction management gained through specialized learning or hands-on experience.
