Overview
This role is for an accomplished Manager - Vessel Performance & Systems to support the Ship Management function in Qatar. The position is focused on raising fleet reliability, improving vessel availability, and strengthening operating performance through careful analysis of data, better maintenance planning, and effective use of digital systems.
What you will do
- Track vessel performance across the fleet, including non-productive time, breakdowns, and key performance indicators, and use the findings to improve efficiency.
- Spot repeated technical problems, study patterns, and help technical teams put preventive measures in place.
- Take ownership of the Shipnet PMS platform administration and improvement, while maintaining compliance and data integrity.
- Support maintenance enhancement efforts, including shifting from time-based maintenance to condition-based maintenance where suitable.
- Oversee PMS adherence, vessel defects, maintenance timelines, and certification readiness across the fleet.
- Assist with PMS setup and rollout for vessels newly added to the fleet.
- Prepare fleet performance reports, technical analytics, and management dashboards on a regular basis.
- Improve the use of spare parts and stores to lower costs and keep vessels available for operations.
- Contribute to procurement by reviewing spare parts, services, and framework agreements from a technical standpoint.
- Lead Offshore Assurance Officer inspections, interpret the outcomes, and make sure corrective actions are closed out on time.
- Work closely with Fleet Managers, Technical Superintendents, Marine Teams, IT, Procurement, and external partners to support operational excellence.
- Back digital transformation efforts and ongoing improvement initiatives across the business.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is needed.
- A Marine Engineer Class II Certificate of Competency is mandatory.
- You should have 8 to 10 years of sailing experience covering both Deep Sea and Offshore vessels.
- Prior experience as a Technical Superintendent is strongly preferred.
- Sound understanding of Shipnet PMS, planned maintenance systems, vessel machinery, maintenance planning, root cause analysis, fleet KPI reporting, spare parts control, technical procurement, database handling, and Microsoft Office is required.
- Experience with offshore and commercial fleets is expected.
- Experience gained in the GCC or Middle East will be considered an advantage.
- You must have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
- English fluency is required; knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage.
