About the Role

BJAK is hiring Mobile Developers to build and enhance the mobile apps behind its insurance and financial offerings. The role involves creating smooth, high-performing native mobile experiences and contributing to AI-enabled features that improve both user experience and operational efficiency.

This is a fully remote role within a global engineering team spread across multiple countries, focused on building dependable and scalable mobile systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and release high-quality mobile apps for iOS or Android.
• Create easy-to-use mobile journeys across insurance, payments, claims, renewals and financial services.
• Partner with product managers, designers and backend engineers to simplify complex user flows.
• Connect mobile apps to backend APIs and keep them stable, scalable and dependable.
• Improve app performance by reducing crashes, speeding up load times, increasing responsiveness and optimizing memory and battery usage.
• Use analytics, production data and user feedback to refine product quality over time.
• Develop AI-assisted mobile features that add real value for users.
• Contribute to engineering best practices, code reviews and continuous improvement for the mobile platform.

Required Qualifications

• At least 3 years of hands-on professional experience in mobile development.
• Proven background in building and supporting production mobile apps on iOS using Swift or Android using Kotlin.
• Good understanding of modern mobile architecture approaches and native platform best practices.
• Experience with SwiftUI or UIKit, or with Jetpack Compose or the Android SDK.
• Strong grasp of mobile UX, usability, accessibility and user-centered design principles.
• Experience working with REST APIs and resolving production issues.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, distributed engineering environment.
• Strong sense of ownership, quick execution and attention to product quality.
• Examples of shipped work, such as GitHub, App Store or Google Play links, are highly preferred.

Tech Stack

The role may involve working with Swift, Kotlin, SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose, Swift Package Manager, Android SDK, SQL, NoSQL and TensorFlow Lite for on-device inference.

Interview Process

The hiring process includes three stages:

• An online coding assessment covering fundamentals, problem-solving and code quality.
• A technical interview focused on native mobile fundamentals, architecture, API integration, debugging, UX thinking and production-ready engineering, based on the candidate’s primary platform.
• A CEO interview evaluating ownership, speed of execution, ambition, judgment, integrity and alignment with BJAK’s builder culture.
