Role overview
The Process Engineer Level II will support process design activities for onshore and offshore projects in the oil and gas sector. This role involves helping maintain technical quality, aligning work with applicable standards, and ensuring design outputs are checked and approved before release. The position also requires coordination with project teams, support for discipline planning, and involvement in safety and quality practices.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in standardizing equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates.
- Apply relevant technical knowledge, legal obligations, and client requirements where appropriate and permitted.
- Use local and international standards to maintain engineering quality.
- Support checking activities, peer reviews, and the incorporation of review comments and findings.
- Ensure that recognized onshore and offshore engineering methods are followed in process design.
- Prepare design specifications for process-related work.
- Help manage project changes and discipline progress, and work with the Project Management Team on corrective actions related to issues, staffing, scope adjustments, schedule progress, or other factors affecting completion or profitability.
- Plan quality activities for the discipline, monitor their execution, suggest improvements, and take corrective action when needed.
- Provide technical support to the discipline team, coordinate with the wider project team, and consult other resources when necessary.
- Support the review and approval of designs and interfaces against client expectations and project specifications.
- Prepare the process scope of work and obtain agreement from the supervising Senior/Lead Process Engineer or nominated representative.
- Estimate process manhours for assignments using current TW process manhour norms.
- Verify that all work is checked and approved before it is issued.
- Work in accordance with the organization’s quality assurance system.
- Follow occupational health and safety procedures and maintain personal safety.
- Apply HSE principles within the design process, with strong attention to process safety and best-practice implementation.
Requirements
- A full-time Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university is required.
- MME engineering accreditation is mandatory; candidates without it must be prepared to obtain it during the probation period.
- Holding Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status, or working toward it, will be considered an advantage.
- Previous process engineering experience in oil and gas projects, covering both offshore and onshore environments, is required.
- Experience in the same or a closely related industry, including work on multidisciplinary projects and teams, is needed.
- Solid understanding of discipline design and engineering, with exposure to multiple engineering disciplines, is expected.
- Hands-on experience with simulation and hydraulic studies is required.
