Procurement Engineer

Role overview

The Procurement Engineer will manage the complete sourcing cycle for mechanical materials for project needs. This role is focused on supplier coordination, commercial closure, contract administration, and keeping procurement aligned with project timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full procurement workflow for mechanical items from request to final placement.
• Prepare and manage RFQs for mechanical requirements.
• Carry out commercial discussions and finalize contracts with vendors.
• Track procurement progress for assigned categories and report status clearly to the project team so delays and likely causes can be identified early.
• Support the project team with interventions needed while handling supply contracts for the relevant categories.
• Review procurement activities regularly to help keep the project on schedule.
• Build durable partnerships with domestic and overseas suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance on a day-to-day basis to ensure service levels, cost targets, delivery commitments, and quality standards are met.
• Assess vendor performance continuously to confirm compliance with specifications and quality requirements for materials and job work.
• Follow up aggressively with vendors to secure on-time delivery.
• Prepare MIS reports and presentations for internal updates.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience in procurement of mechanical items.
• Capability to manage RFQ activities, commercial negotiations, and supplier contracting.
• Strong coordination skills for tracking procurement status and resolving delays.
• Ability to support contract administration and project procurement interventions.
• Experience in vendor development, supplier relationship management, and performance monitoring.
• Ability to ensure adherence to delivery schedules and quality standards.
• Good MIS preparation and presentation skills.
