Dexibit is a New Zealand-based product company focused on AI and visitor attraction analytics. The team builds software that helps museums, zoos, theme parks, and similar venues interpret their data and make better operational and strategic decisions. The company works with well-known international organisations as well as local names such as MOTAT and Weta, and has received recognition from industry groups including HiTech, NZIBA, TIN, and others.
Dexibit is now part of accesso, a global technology business supporting more than 1,000 venues across 30+ countries. That brings a broader customer base and more complex technical challenges to solve.
What the product does
The platform combines deep domain expertise with an AI-ready data foundation and an agent-led interface. It is used for tasks such as strategic modelling, scheduling, operational reporting, and analysing guest feedback.
Behind the scenes, the AI layer coordinates real business logic and APIs, including integration packs, custom datasets, benchmarks, context controls, and the company’s query and visualisation stack.
The biggest focus for new development is the agentic interface, which involves streaming, context-window handling, tool orchestration, sandboxed execution, and other technically demanding problems.
Role overview
This position is for a product-oriented software engineer who can help shape both the product and the way the team builds it. You will code daily, but the company also values engineers who naturally influence outcomes through design input, technical leadership, mentoring, and helping the wider team move in the same direction.
The role is broadly full-stack, though it is expected that you will have stronger depth on one side of the stack, either in backend/data systems or frontend product engineering. The team is looking for someone who can contribute across the stack while bringing real technical strength in one core area.
What success looks like
You will be expected to simplify difficult problems into practical, well-designed solutions. Clear communication, customer empathy, and an ability to understand the underlying purpose of the work are important in this role.
The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of engineering experience across a range of systems and domains, with a track record of delivering meaningful work and being open about both successes and failures. Curiosity, humility, mentoring ability, and comfort giving and receiving constructive feedback are all valued.
Technology environment
The engineering team works with TypeScript, Java, Python, SQL, PostgreSQL, DuckDB, Databricks, OLTP/OLAP systems, AWS, Ansible, CDK, Datadog, Modal, LangFuse, OpenAI and Anthropic models, Pydantic, AI SDK, LangChain4j, XGBoost, Prophet, React, Jotai, Redux Toolkit, BFF patterns, data visualisation tools, and a mix of serverless services and monoliths. The team also uses AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and Codex.
Working style and location
This is an Auckland-based hybrid role, with three days in the office and two days working from home. The team prefers a cycle-based approach and values communication over heavy process.
Level and compensation
The company is flexible on seniority. Whether you are a strong senior engineer or someone with 15 years of experience, the role will be aligned to your level in terms of title and compensation.
