Role Overview
The company’s client, a printing press business, is hiring a meticulous and well-organized Assistant Editor to help review, refine, and prepare content for print-ready production. The position is based in Abofu, Achimota, Accra, Greater Accra Region, Ghana.
The main purpose of the role is to make sure all materials are accurate, polished, and suitable for the pre-press and printing process.
Core Duties
- Edit and proofread content to improve accuracy, consistency, and presentation.
- Work with authors, illustrators, editors, and other stakeholders involved in publishing projects.
- Set up and maintain a filing and database system for tracking job agreements and related records.
- Support the preparation of documents and materials for press production.
- Carry out assigned tasks independently and with minimal supervision.
Required Competencies
- Strong command of English.
- Sharp attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Good interpersonal skills for coordinating with different contributors.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress, and other publishing software.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should hold a degree in English with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a publishing-related organization, or a degree in Publishing Studies with at least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
Prior exposure to printing processes will be considered an advantage.
