Role overview
This position is responsible for leading the Environment, Health and Safety agenda for the plant/organization in Pathankot, Punjab. The role ensures that safety, health and environmental practices are aligned with legal and regulatory expectations while supporting a strong, compliant workplace culture.
EHS strategy and compliance
You will own the execution of EHS policies, standards and procedures and make sure they stay aligned with statutory requirements. A key part of the role is monitoring compliance across the plant/organization, maintaining a legal compliance tracker, and closing any gaps through timely corrective actions.
Technical expertise and risk management
The role calls for acting as the EHS specialist for environmental matters, risk assessments, process reviews and audits. You will build and implement a structured approach to managing safety risks so the business can make informed decisions and maintain safe operations.
Reporting and management review
Monthly EHS MIS will need to be prepared and presented to senior leadership, covering both leading and lagging indicators. The role also includes regular monitoring, review of compliance status and follow-up on improvement actions.
Capability building and culture
In coordination with the plant HR team, you will lead training and development initiatives for site employees on EHS topics. This includes organizing awareness activities such as World Environment Day, National Safety Week, Earth Day and Water Day, supporting safety committee meetings, and strengthening an EHS-conscious culture across the organization.
Budgeting and documentation
You will prepare the annual EHS budget, track spend against plan through monthly and quarterly reviews, and create corrective plans for any deviations. The role also involves maintaining safety documentation in line with Safety Manual requirements and ensuring records remain accessible and updated annually.
Inspections, audits and emergency readiness
Regular EHS inspections and themed audits will be part of the job, including checks such as PPE audits, machine guard audits and interlock audits. You will also conduct mock drills for different emergency scenarios to strengthen disaster preparedness.
Records and incident tracking
The position requires maintaining essential records related to first aid, medical treatment cases, lost time injuries, disabling injuries and fatalities.
