About L.E.K. Consulting
L.E.K. Consulting is a worldwide strategy advisory firm that helps ambitious organisations solve complex business challenges. Founded in 1983, the firm operates across 27 offices globally and employs around 3,000 people. It is recognised for a collaborative culture, diverse teams, and a strong reputation as a workplace in professional services.
Role Overview
L.E.K. is hiring an Associate Consultant for its Sydney or Melbourne office. This opportunity is intended for professionals with 3 to 4 years of experience in strategy consulting, particularly in corporate strategy and commercial and/or vendor due diligence.
In this position, you will own a substantial workstream, shape the initial hypothesis, decide how the work should be structured, and help guide junior team members. The role also offers the chance to build leadership capability while continuing to play a hands-on part in research, analysis, and synthesis of information that supports client decisions.
What You Will Do
- Plan and run primary and secondary research efforts on markets, competitors, and customers using methods such as surveys and individual interviews.
- Work with the project team to turn analysis into trends, conclusions, and recommendations that support the client’s strategic choices.
- Prepare module-level answers by building the narrative and organising slide content through a hypothesis-driven approach.
- Carry out detailed strategic and financial analysis to support recommendations, including market growth and competitor share modelling, discounted cash flow valuation, customer sensitivity testing, and acquisition value probability analysis.
- Provide strong technical and commercial quality checks to ensure the work is accurate, logical, and well-supported.
- Help capture and organise internal L.E.K. intellectual capital and support junior associates in preparing relevant materials.
- Lead one-on-one discussions and small workshops with client stakeholders.
- Supervise junior associate outputs, coach team members, share practical know-how, and contribute positively to team culture.
What L.E.K. Offers
- Exposure to a wide range of work across strategy, transactions, organisation and performance, and major capital projects advisory.
- Experience with diverse sectors including private equity, media and technology, industrials, energy, sustainability and decarbonisation, transport, healthcare, and consumer businesses.
- Shorter project cycles than many competitors, giving you broader client exposure and faster learning.
- Strong professional development support through deep analytical work and the monthly Back to the Office Day, which is dedicated to learning and cohort-based skill building.
- A lively and social team environment supported by employee groups such as the Ministry of Fun, Women in Business, and the Community Engagement Committee.
- Close-knit teams where you may begin managing others within your first few years.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will have 3 to 4 years of corporate strategy experience gained in a strategy consulting firm and/or an internal strategy team. Experience in commercial due diligence is a strong advantage.
Beyond academic achievement, L.E.K. is looking for someone who is commercially minded, analytical, creative, entrepreneurial, comfortable with change and ambiguity, and able to communicate clearly. You should also be willing to travel and be able to thrive in a demanding, fast-moving environment while bringing integrity, patience, and a sense of humour.
Application Requirements
Applications are reviewed as they come in, and only complete applications that meet the stated criteria will be considered.
- A resume of 1 to 2 pages in PDF format.
- A one-page cover letter addressed to the Talent Team in PDF format.
- Academic transcripts for all university qualifications, including both undergraduate and postgraduate study.
Eligibility
To be considered, you must hold Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or Australian Permanent Residency.
Diversity and Inclusion
L.E.K. is an equal opportunity employer and values a workplace built on inclusion, respect, and dignity for every person. The company supports employee communities including Pride@LEK, Mosaic@LEK, and Women in Business, and its Diversity and Inclusion committee runs events focused on awareness and education throughout the year.
