Data Engineer, Product Analytics (University Grad)

About the role

Meta is hiring a Data Engineer for Product Analytics to help build the data foundation behind consumer- and business-facing experiences across its app family, including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Reality Labs, and Threads. This position focuses on creating and improving large-scale datasets, data models, logging, and visualizations that support product growth, strategy, and user experience for billions of users and Meta’s internal teams.

You’ll work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and product managers to solve complex problems at scale, improve data infrastructure, and turn data into decisions. The role also emphasizes clear communication, strategic influence, and the ability to translate analysis into actionable recommendations.

What you’ll do

• Own and run data warehouse plans for a product area or a set of related products, focusing on clearly defined business problems.
• Figure out what data is needed to answer business questions, set up the required logging, and coordinate with infrastructure teams to investigate and fix issues.
• Partner with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand data requirements and communicate insights in a practical way.
• Apply data governance practices to protect privacy, maintain security, meet compliance needs, and uphold data quality and operational standards within your area.
• Create and ship data models and visualizations into production using shared development tools.
• Independently build and deploy extraction, transformation, and loading pipelines, while helping others write efficient queries.
• Maintain production data workflows and improve them with minimal direction.
• Define and manage service-level agreements for datasets under your ownership.
• Use data to influence product direction, identify opportunities, and help teams make better prioritization decisions.
• Communicate findings as clear, persuasive data stories that build trust with partners and stakeholders.

Minimum qualifications

• Working toward or already holding a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience; the degree must be completed before joining Meta.
• Working knowledge of SQL.
• Programming experience in Python.
• Familiarity with database systems.
• Ability to obtain and keep work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire.

• Strong curiosity, self-direction, and an analytical approach to exploring data.
• Ability to perform well in a fast-moving environment.
• Experience working with people across teams and organizations.
• Experience using AI tools to improve or redesign workflows and produce measurable gains such as better efficiency or quality.
• Understanding of responsible and ethical AI practices, including risk review, bias reduction, and quality/accuracy checks.
• Ongoing learning in AI, including prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration, and awareness of emerging AI technologies.

Compensation and benefits

The base pay range for this role is $99,008 to $139,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Final compensation is based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Benefits are also offered in addition to base pay.
