Environmental Advisor

About the role

Fulton Hogan is seeking an Environmental Advisor to support its Manawatū operations. In this practical, site-based position, you will work across multiple locations in the Manawatū/Whanganui region to strengthen environmental performance, guide teams toward compliant practices, and help deliver work in a responsible way.

The role suits someone who can quickly earn trust, offer clear and usable advice, and help teams turn environmental intentions into measurable outcomes. You will partner with crews, leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure site activities align with environmental obligations while continuously improving day-to-day practices.

Key responsibilities

• Offer regular environmental guidance and on-the-ground support across site activities throughout the region.
• Help crews and leaders meet consent obligations, legal requirements, and internal Fulton Hogan procedures.
• Identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact and improve how work is carried out on site.
• Support the investigation of environmental incidents and help drive corrective actions through to completion for events, near misses, and observations.
• Provide coaching, training, and learning support to strengthen environmental awareness, compliance, and system capability.

What we are looking for

• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in an environmental advisory capacity.
• Hands-on experience managing environmental compliance, including interpreting requirements and supporting compliant site outcomes.
• Working knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory compliance processes; familiarity with ISO 14001 systems would be an advantage.
• Excellent communication ability, with the confidence to coach others, influence decisions, and keep messaging practical and straightforward.
• A current Class 1 driver licence and the ability to meet the physical and operational demands of the role, including regular travel and outdoor work.
