Role overview

Join a globally respected simulation and training organization where engineers help keep advanced systems running reliably and safely. This role supports flight simulator training devices and related equipment in a fast-paced technical environment, with opportunities to solve complex issues, improve procedures, and contribute to ongoing operational excellence.

Key accountabilities

  • Deliver hands-on technical support for Flight Simulator Training Devices (FSTDs) and other training systems, including maintenance call support, device setup, conversions, demonstrations, simulator flight tests, and snag resolution.
  • Carry out Preventive Maintenance Tasks (PMTs), Daily Readiness checks, recurrent QTG runs, Aircraft Database (ADB) updates, and IOS Lesson Plan (LP) updates independently, ensuring all work aligns with required standards.
  • Track through to closure any issues discovered during maintenance, readiness, or QTG work within the expected timelines.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and fix device faults, including aircraft-on-ground (AOG) situations and issues escalated by National Aviation Authorities (NAAs).
  • Perform hardware rework and upgrades, identify repeat failures, and help define durable corrective actions.
  • Use SimHub, SimIssues, and the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to log, monitor, review, and update deficiencies and maintenance activities.
  • Prepare operational reports for TCOPS management to support performance tracking and trend review.
  • When assigned, work autonomously in lead-type responsibilities such as Shift Lead, Team Lead, Device Caretaker, or Task Caretaker.
  • Draft, refine, and maintain procedures and work instructions for routine, new, and non-routine activities.
  • Partner with FSTD Technical Specialists on complex troubleshooting and advanced testing, and support special projects based on training center needs.
  • Coach junior colleagues and provide on-the-job training while supporting complex tasks and corrective maintenance work.
  • Continue building technical expertise toward subject-matter proficiency in key FSTD areas such as visual, motion, flight controls, or QTG systems.
  • Follow all local and global CAE Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements, instructions, and safe work practices, while protecting your own safety and that of others.

Minimum qualifications

A technical college diploma or degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Aerospace Engineering is required, along with at least 7 years of relevant experience supporting flight simulation training devices or similar technical systems. Strong written and spoken English is essential, as are customer focus, professionalism in sensitive situations, initiative, and the ability to work with limited supervision. The role also requires flexibility for rotating shifts and changing schedules, familiarity with aircraft and FSTD terminology, the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics, and practical experience with PMTs and Daily Readiness activities. Candidates should also bring strong troubleshooting ability across electronic, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, confidence using test equipment and diagnostic software, good understanding of aircraft systems, avionics, motion, and visual systems, solid computer skills including Microsoft Office, and basic knowledge of computer architecture, networking, operating systems such as Windows NT/XP, UNIX, Linux, and AIX, plus programming languages including C, C++, and FORTRAN. Basic awareness of local and international regulations such as EASA and FAA for FSTDs is also expected.

Preferred experience

  • Previous experience in a leadership capacity such as Shift Lead, Team Lead, Device Caretaker, or a similar function.
  • Background in mentoring junior engineers or technicians in a simulator or training setting.
  • Exposure to QTG work, simulator acceptance testing, or authority-related assessments.
  • Experience supporting multiple FSTD platforms or complex training center operations.
