An immediate opening is available for a driven Procurement Manager. The position may be located in any metropolitan area where Source Atlantic, Bolt Supply House, or Soucie Salo operates, with preference given to Calgary/Balzac, AB or Saint John, NB.
Role Summary
This position is responsible for leading day-to-day procurement operations so goods and services are sourced efficiently, economically, and on time. The role oversees a team of 5 to 6 Buyers, strengthens supplier partnerships, manages the import portfolio, aligns purchasing and inventory planning with business goals, and supports ongoing improvements across procurement workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee purchasing operations, including purchase order generation, replenishment planning, import purchasing, and inventory optimization.
- Lead the procurement team on a daily basis through coaching, support, prioritization, and on-site leadership.
- Maintain suitable stock levels across sites while balancing customer service, supplier lead times, and inventory carrying costs.
- Develop and improve forecasting, reorder points, and replenishment methods to reduce shortages and prevent overstocking.
- Coordinate transfers, returns, and stock movement activities with operations and warehouse teams.
- Manage supplier relationships to support dependable supply, strong pricing, and effective communication across different time zones.
- Handle supplier quality issues and guide corrective action activities, including NCPAR management.
- Contribute to onboarding, training, development, and accountability of team members.
- Monitor performance indicators such as stock-outs, forecast accuracy, and pricing feedback to guide decisions.
- Spot opportunities to simplify manual work and implement process enhancements that improve efficiency and structure.
- Work closely with operations, sales, finance, accounting, logistics, and other internal teams.
- Serve as the escalation contact for procurement matters and take ownership of the procurement function for the program.
Qualifications
- 4 to 8 years of progressive experience in procurement, purchasing, or inventory management is required, with a strong preference for candidates from the industrial distribution sector.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience is required.
- A bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Background in managing an active import portfolio is an asset.
- Strong analytical ability and confidence in forecasting to support demand planning, budgeting, and procurement decisions.
- Excellent organizational habits and the self-discipline to complete tasks and daily priorities consistently.
- Ability to build productive working relationships across departments and stakeholder groups.
- Comfort working in changing environments with a mindset focused on innovation, adaptability, and continuous learning.
- Proficiency with ERP platforms and Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
