Relationship Manager

Overview

Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited is hiring a Relationship Manager to join its Corporate Banking team in Kingston. This role sits at Grade 4 and is suited to someone who wants to build a career in a stable, expanding financial services environment.

The position centers on growing the bank’s corporate and commercial portfolio by deepening relationships with existing business clients, winning new prospects in the assigned market, and supporting credit decisioning for a range of industry segments.

What the role involves

• Grow the Corporate and Commercial Banking book in the assigned territory in a profitable way.
• Create personal market and sales plans to attract and convert new clients.
• Support the development of credit offerings and keep communication open with prospects and customers.
• Work with the Credit Solutions Manager to review financials and recommend suitable terms, pricing, covenants, and conditions within responsible lending standards.
• Strengthen the bank’s presence through internal and external networking in the assigned market.
• Ensure existing relationships receive regular attention so the business relationship remains active and expands over time.
• Collect customer feedback on products, services, and service quality, and use it to improve the client experience.
• Provide tailored business and financial guidance to corporate and commercial banking clients.
• Protect the bank’s assets and liabilities by keeping the assigned portfolio in strong quality.
• Manage the credit portfolio at an acceptable risk level.
• Stay current on each client’s financial position by using insights from annual review processes.
• Connect clients with other business partners when broader advisory support is needed.
• Hold an annual discovery/strategy meeting with every client and document actions in the client relationship plan.
• Complete credit reviews with the Credit Solutions Manager within required timelines, where applicable.
• Carry out any other job-related duties assigned from time to time.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Management Studies, Finance, or Economics from a recognized tertiary institution.
• At least 5 years of banking experience, including a minimum of 5 years in general credit work such as corporate lending and loan administration.
• Comfort using common computer applications, including spreadsheets and word processing tools.
• Strong understanding of Jamaica’s corporate and commercial banking landscape, including key industries and competitive conditions in the assigned area.
• Good grasp of the bank’s objectives, segment strategy, structure, and lending and deposit products.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal ability.
• Solid networking skills and the confidence to build professional relationships.
• Analytical thinking and the ability to assess credit and lending risk.
• Working knowledge of the Banking Act 1992, the Banking Amendment Act 1997, and BOJ regulations relating to credit classification, provisioning, and non-accrual requirements.
• Ability to apply modern management and supervisory practices, including dealing with difficult staff situations.
• Skill in handling customer concerns, understanding individual needs, and adjusting your approach to different situations.
• Persuasive selling ability when promoting the bank’s products and services.
• Strong knowledge of the bank’s commercial lending and deposit products and services.
• Proven success in business development, including prospecting and referrals.
