Shift Engineer - Central Utility Building

Role Overview

This position is for a Shift Engineer within the Central Utility Building at Reliance Industries Limited in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The role supports shift operations by coordinating permit activities, keeping an eye on operating conditions, and helping ensure maintenance work is carried out safely and without delay.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare work permits and verify the area before a fresh permit is issued.
• Assign tasks to operators and issue permits at the job location.
• Close or release permits for jobs that are already in progress.
• Assist the shift superintendent in tracking process readings, resolving issues, and accelerating maintenance work.
• Monitor chemical stock levels, inform the shift superintendent ahead of time about shortages, and arrange for replenishment.
• Coordinate with field executives and maintenance executives to speed up maintenance activities and ensure equipment is handed over safely after shutdown/transfer of ownership (HOTO).
• Work with core utility and process systems, including distillation, chilling, thermal heating, compression, and effluent treatment.
• Handle systems such as chillers, tray columns with reboilers, vaporizers, and multistage gas compression units.
• Support batch preparation systems along with de-ionized water and re-mineralized water generation processes.

Required Background

Applicants should have a working understanding of utility and process operations, along with hands-on exposure to plant equipment and maintenance coordination. The role calls for someone comfortable with shift-based plant supervision, permit control, and operational troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualification and Experience

A B.E. in Chemical Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience is preferred. Candidates with a Diploma in Chemical Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience may also be considered.
