Role Overview
The AMI Operator is tasked with carrying out SMOC operational work accurately, reliably, and on time. The position centers on managing work orders and protecting meter data quality through careful verification and validation. The role is essential to smooth operations by maintaining strong data integrity and following established procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Track, coordinate, and resolve work orders generated for rollout activities and day-to-day operations.
- Carry out technical AMI support tasks such as reading, building, programming, installing, activating, inspecting, diagnosing, replacing, and routing meters.
- Prepare technical daily reports related to SMOC operations within the required timelines.
- Identify operational issues, investigate them, and support resolution efforts.
- Provide support to supervisors and analysts whenever needed during execution of work processes.
- Liaise with client departments, customers, contractors, and site teams as necessary.
- Work with SMOC and AMI subsystems, along with related programs used for meter installation and complaint handling.
- Maintain records and produce reports from SMOC and AMI subsystem data in line with client expectations.
- Handle large volumes of data by tracking, sorting, updating, recording, and formatting reports appropriately.
- Support Quality Assurance and Continual Improvement activities to help maintain ISO, Risk Management, and ISMS certifications.
- Ensure all installation-section activities comply with client health and safety requirements.
- Be available to work across all three shifts in a 24/7 operational setup.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned from time to time.
Qualification and Experience
This role requires a technical diploma or degree in Computer or Software Engineering. Candidates should bring at least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar position, with practical exposure to various Operation & Maintenance applications. Experience handling electricity and/or water metrology is needed, along with the ability to communicate with end users to resolve issues, identify gaps, and gather data. Strong PC skills, including MS Office and other system applications, are essential. A basic understanding of meter communication issues is also required.
Working Conditions
The position is based in Doha Metropolitan Area and is fully onsite. It requires flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment across rotating shifts, including all three shifts.
