Role overview
This is a remote contract opportunity for a Data Analyst Excel position. The work centers on using Excel-based analysis to support teams with practical insights and better decision-making. The role is also framed around contributing high-quality, real-world input to improve AI systems, and previous AI experience is not necessary as long as you bring strong domain knowledge.
Core responsibilities
- Use Microsoft Excel to perform detailed analysis and surface insights that help teams make informed decisions.
- Work with project stakeholders to understand what data is needed and turn those needs into useful analyses.
- Check, clean, and verify datasets so they remain accurate, consistent, and reliable.
- Prepare concise reports and visual materials that present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Spot patterns, irregularities, and opportunities in complex data to support strategic work.
- Keep clear records of methods used, results found, and recommendations made, with strong attention to detail.
- Bring data expertise to help improve data-led decision-making within the customer’s team.
Skills and qualifications
- Hands-on background in data analysis within a business setting, with Microsoft Excel as the main working tool.
- Strong accuracy and carefulness when handling data and preparing outputs.
- Clear written and spoken communication skills for sharing analytical findings effectively.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and support shared business goals.
- Good command of Excel formulas, functions, and charting or visualization features.
- Ability to detect inconsistent data and apply corrective steps.
- Experience in fast-moving, analytics-focused environments.
Preferred experience
- Experience helping cross-functional teams use data insights to guide business strategy.
- Comfort presenting analysis results to different types of audiences.
- Exposure to additional analytics tools or business intelligence platforms.
