This position sits within a global express logistics company operating in more than 220 countries and territories. The role supports safe, legal, and efficient flight operations while contributing to service quality, reliability, and sustainability.

The Flight Dispatcher is central to pre-flight and post-flight coordination, operational monitoring, and real-time support for flight crews and management. The role involves building complete flight packages, tracking active flights, and helping optimize routes by balancing cost, payload, operating constraints, and punctuality.

Core Purpose

You will prepare flight packages that include the flight plan, weather information, NOTAMs, crew briefing, and flight permissions, while ensuring compliance with civil aviation and airline regulations. You will also monitor all conditions affecting flight performance, such as weather, airport restrictions, and ATC limitations, and provide timely operational updates to the wider team.

The Flight Control Centre works closely with Network Operations Control, Crew Scheduling, Aviation Maintenance, and airport stakeholders to support day-to-day airline operations. You will provide real-time reports and information that help management make informed operational decisions.

Key Duties

The position requires active oversight of flight operations, rapid response to disruptions, and consistent coordination with internal and external parties. In this fast-moving environment, decisions may need to be made under significant time pressure, including re-routing aircraft to alternate airports when conditions change.

Operational Responsibilities

• Ensure all flight activity follows applicable aviation regulations, and escalate any departure from SOPs or regulatory requirements to the DFO and Flight Operations Manager.
• Monitor all DHL call sign flights in line with aviation rules and maintain continuous tracking.
• Provide 24/7 oversight of flights, including weather monitoring, airspace restriction checks, and NOTAM reviews for approved destinations and alternates.
• Prepare a complete flight briefing for each departure, including flight release, weather briefing, and relevant NOTAMs.
• Follow procedures issued by the Flight Operations Manager at all times.
• Keep the Flight Control Centre stocked with required office supplies.
• Inform the Emergency Response Director immediately about reportable incidents.
• Escalate any operational irregularities to the Flight Operations Manager without delay.
• Stay current with the Emergency Procedures Manual and Emergency SOP, and activate emergency procedures when required.
• Calculate fuel requirements for all DHL aircraft using the Lido computerized flight planning system and OPT.
• Share fuel figures, crew names, and jump-seat passenger details through DHL systems such as NMIV.
• Track crew using the AIMS crew scheduling system.
• Process jump-seat requests from Bahrain through the DHL Jump Seat Tool.
• Monitor electronic flight package transmission through the EFB application (Aviobase) for DHL aircraft.
• Verify MEL status for aircraft before dispatch.
• Ensure ground handling services in Bahrain and outstations are arranged for ES flights, including GPU, pushback, crew transport, fuel, and catering.
• Coordinate with Network Operations Control, Aviation Maintenance, and Airside teams for ES flight movements to and from Bahrain.
• Complete all operations planning checklist items for charter and ad hoc flights.
• Work with Coalition Military Authorities on flight permits and PPRs into Afghanistan.
• Obtain landing and overflight clearances for ES flights.
• Arrange ad hoc airport slots for ES services.
• Carry out airfield analysis for possible routes.
• Manage the issuance and return records for EFB spare iPads and company aircraft mobile devices.
• Report Flight Control Centre IT problems to the DHL IT team using the prescribed process.
• Maintain all necessary operational documentation in the Flight Control Centre.
• Remain familiar with company manuals and BCAA requirements to support safe and lawful flight operations.

Experience and Profile

This role is suited to an aviation professional with deep flight dispatch exposure, strong coordination skills, and the ability to work accurately in a highly pressured setting.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of aviation experience, including a minimum of 5 years in flight dispatch or crewing.
• At least 5 years of experience working in airline AOC operations with flight dispatch responsibilities.
• A valid aircraft dispatcher license issued by BCAA, UAE, or FAA.
• Working knowledge of BCAA regulations, including FTL and dispatch rules.
• Prior hands-on experience with the Lido flight planning system.
• Strong understanding of the AIMS crew scheduling system; training will be provided where needed.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Comfort interacting and coordinating with colleagues and stakeholders from different cultural backgrounds.
• Competence in aviation meteorology and operational reporting systems.
• Strong time management, sound judgment, and decision-making skills in a high-pressure environment.
• High attention to detail.
