Role overview

Barayamal is seeking a Lead Graphic Designer to shape clear, polished, and brand-aligned visuals across a range of volunteer-led projects and campaign materials. This remote role is focused on turning simple ideas into strong visual communication that the team can use easily and consistently.

What you’ll do

• Design and improve graphics for LinkedIn, website pages, newsletters, reports, pitch decks, and event promotion assets.
• Translate basic briefs into professional visual concepts that match the organisation’s brand and are straightforward for the team to reuse.
• Offer practical design input and light direction to other volunteer designers when needed.
• Strengthen reusable templates, layouts, and brand assets so future volunteer work can be produced more efficiently and consistently.

Who this role suits

This position is a good match for someone living in Australia who has solid experience in graphic design, visual communication, or creative direction. A portfolio or equivalent project work should demonstrate the ability to create strong digital design work.

The right person will be comfortable working with layout, typography, colour, brand consistency, and digital-first design. They should also be able to collaborate remotely, communicate clearly about availability and progress, and hand work over smoothly when needed.

Interest in First Nations entrepreneurship, community impact, and culturally respectful communication is important for this role.

Useful experience

• Hands-on experience with Canva, Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar tools.
• Experience creating LinkedIn or social media visuals, presentations, reports, or campaign assets.
• Exposure to motion design or video-related assets is an advantage.

Volunteer arrangement

This is an unpaid volunteer position with no minimum weekly time commitment. Work is arranged around your availability, skills, and interests. Volunteers may choose how much they can realistically contribute and can step away if their circumstances change, provided they communicate early enough for work to be handed over properly.
