Maintenance Supervisor

Role overview

Qatar Fabrication Company is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee a technical maintenance crew and ensure work orders are carried out efficiently and safely. The role is based in Ras Laffan, Qatar, and reporting lines are to the Maintenance Engineer. Priority will be given to Qatari candidates.

What the role involves

You will coordinate maintenance foremen and technicians, guide the team technically, and help create a productive, improvement-focused work environment. A key part of the role is making sure maintenance activity follows the SAP PM plan, site-specific requirements, and QHSES expectations.

Maintenance coverage

The position covers a wide range of equipment and facilities, including fixed assets such as CNC machinery, PLC-controlled equipment, hydraulic systems, prefabrication machines, welding units, blasting and painting equipment. It also includes portable tools and machines like grinders, chipping guns, torches, welding ovens, rollers, and manipulators, as well as mobile plant such as forklifts, MEWPs, cleaning machines, air compressors, generators, and other material-handling equipment.

The role further extends to workshop utilities and exterior yard utilities, along with transportation and lifting equipment such as overhead cranes, JIB cranes, mobile cranes, crawler cranes, shipyard transporters, SPMTs, electric hoists, chain hoists, hydraulic jacks, pedestal jacks, and load cells.

Key accountabilities

You will lead toolbox talks and pre-job briefings, arrange permit-to-work and isolation activities, and make sure the team follows the required safety controls, including HIT cards and other applicable measures. Where needed, you will work with the Maintenance Engineer for quality checks and the use of precision or specialized tools.

The job also requires you to supervise the execution of assigned work orders and job cards, confirm that tasks are completed to procedure, safety, and quality standards, and ensure manhours, resources, findings, actions, and open items are accurately recorded in SAP PM. Spare-part needs and external service requests must be routed to the Maintenance Engineer for review. You will also submit work order completion reports and follow the department maintenance workflow.

Another major responsibility is reacting quickly to breakdowns, troubleshooting failures, and supporting repairs until equipment is restored. You will use your trade knowledge to diagnose issues, seek technical input from the Maintenance Engineer when necessary, and coordinate closely with production supervisors on malfunctions, observations, equipment availability, utilization planning, maintenance windows, and condition assessments.

Qualifications and experience

A diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Mechatronics is required, together with relevant years of work experience. The role needs at least 4 years of industrial maintenance experience.
