Role overview
This is a full-time, entry-level paralegal position within the Legal department in Washington, DC. In this role, you’ll support a team of United States Attorneys under the guidance of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor. The work centers on litigation support, administrative assistance, and helping the legal team manage filings, discovery, and case materials efficiently.

- Retrieve electronic case filings from PACER.
- Load ECF documents into automated matter systems.
- Record filing details in a case tracking platform.
- Generate and share ECF links with DOJ attorneys.
- Answer attorney requests for filing copies and retrieval support.
- Gather, organize, and summarize materials used in discovery, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Run straightforward to moderately complex database searches.
- Perform basic legal research as needed.
- Track, index, and manage discovery records, depositions, and trial documents.
- Prepare exhibit cross-references.
- Support attorneys in courtroom-related work.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a paralegal certificate, a JD, or current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school with at least one completed year of study. In place of the paralegal certificate, one year of legal training or legal experience, or at least two years of college education, may be accepted.
Candidates should also have at least one year of litigation paralegal experience or experience with electronic case filing workflows. A working understanding of legal citations, legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw, and strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
