About the Employer

Calian has been helping organizations tackle complex problems, reduce risk, and keep moving forward since 1982. What began as a small consulting business has evolved into a global company serving defence, space, health, nuclear energy, public safety, and government sectors.

The organization develops practical, innovative solutions for challenging environments and supports the resilience, safety, and connectivity of the communities it serves. If you are motivated by meaningful work and enjoy solving real-world problems, this role offers that opportunity.

Role Summary

Calian Health Services is hiring a full-time Physiotherapist for the Canadian Forces Health Services Centre in Borden, Ontario. The position involves delivering assessment, consultation, and treatment services within the physiotherapy clinic through booked appointments and walk-ins, as well as through the Care Delivery Unit (CDU) in sick parade and consultation settings. The role is part of a collaborative care model and serves a patient group that is typically highly fit and motivated to recover.

What You Will Do

  • Provide physiotherapy and rehabilitation care based on evidence-driven methods, current best practices, and the applicable regulatory scope of practice.
  • Manage a full orthopedic workload of about 12 to 15 patients each day, including roughly 8 new assessments per week and usually 2 follow-up visits per hour; up to 60 minutes of charting may be included if the daily patient target is still met.
  • Assess and treat neuro-musculoskeletal conditions, especially those linked to sports injuries, training-related injuries, workplace injuries, and accidents.
  • Explain treatment plans clearly and obtain informed consent before assessment and intervention.
  • Carry out screening assessments, patient education, and orthoses recommendations in direct-access settings such as CDU walk-ins.
  • Design exercise programs that support rehabilitation, injury prevention, and overall fitness.
  • Use manual therapy and soft-tissue techniques to address neuro-musculoskeletal issues, scar tissue, muscle tension, circulation concerns, and lymphatic problems.
  • Apply pain-management approaches, which may include acupuncture-style needling below the dermis.
  • Deliver ergonomics guidance and perform on-site workplace assessments when needed.
  • Educate patients and members of the health care team on injury prevention, health promotion, and related physiotherapy topics.
  • Conduct biomechanical foot assessments, including orthotics fitting and fabrication.
  • Help plan, prepare, and deliver clinic programs that support education and rehabilitation, such as proprioceptive rehab, reintegration programs, and back-pain self-management initiatives.
  • Take part in ongoing patient management through interdisciplinary case discussions, clinical rounds, patient conferences, and arranging additional follow-up care.
  • Complete daily clinical documentation for every patient interaction in line with Canadian Forces and provincial regulatory record-keeping requirements.

Requirements

  • A current physiotherapy licence in good standing in Ontario.
  • At least 1 year of experience in orthopedics or sports medicine, along with one of the following: Manual Therapy Level 1, McKenzie Part A, Acupuncture Certification such as AFCI, or Dry Needling Certification.
  • A valid Standard First Aid certificate and Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers, or an equivalent qualification such as CPR/AED Level C.

Compensation and Benefits

The role pays $47 to $52 per hour.

Benefits for eligible full-time employees include a comprehensive health and dental package.

Work Schedule and Environment

This is a weekday-only position with hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and there are no evening or weekend shifts. The focus is on patient care rather than billing or marketing, and clinicians have access to extensive resources, spacious treatment areas, a motivated patient population, and a collaborative multidisciplinary team.

Facilities on-site and on-base provide access to exercise programming, gym equipment, custom bracing and orthotics, and specialized military equipment.
