Planning Engineer

About the role

BÖWE is a recognized architecture and design practice looking for a seasoned Planning Engineer to support complex projects across architecture, interiors, fit-out, residential, hospitality, commercial, and mixed-use developments. This role focuses on building and maintaining project schedules, following progress against the approved baseline, producing status reports, spotting delays and risks, and helping teams put recovery actions in place.

The position works closely with project managers, design teams, consultants, contractors, procurement, finance, and leadership to keep plans aligned and projects under control. Strong hands-on experience with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project is essential, along with solid analytical, reporting, and coordination capabilities. English fluency is required, and Arabic is considered an added advantage.

Planning and project control expertise

The role calls for practical knowledge of schedule development, progress tracking, and project control across design, procurement, construction, and execution stages. You should be confident in defining work breakdown structures, sequencing activities, setting milestones, analyzing the critical path, and preparing progress documentation for management use.

You will also be expected to understand delay analysis, extension-of-time support, project risk tracking, and the preparation of formal project control records with a strong emphasis on accuracy and compliance.

Core responsibilities

In this role, you will create and maintain baseline schedules, detailed work programs, timelines, and milestone plans. You will update schedules in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or another approved planning tool, then compare progress against the baseline to flag delays, risks, critical activities, and coordination issues.

You will prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for management, clients, consultants, and internal teams. Other duties include producing lookahead schedules, recovery plans, delay reports, S-curves, progress curves, manpower histograms, and dashboard updates when required.

The job also involves tracking design submissions, procurement steps, material approvals, site progress, and major milestones; coordinating updates with project managers, design, procurement, finance, contractor, consultant, and supplier teams; and supporting revised programs, mitigation measures, delay analysis, and extension-of-time documentation. You will review contractor and consultant schedules, attend coordination and progress meetings, maintain planning records, and represent BÖWE professionally with project stakeholders.

Qualifications and experience

A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management, or a closely related discipline is required. The role expects 6 to 10 years of relevant experience as a Planning Engineer or Project Control Engineer.

Experience in architecture, interior design, fit-out, residential, hospitality, commercial, or mixed-use projects is preferred. You should have advanced capability in Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project, along with a strong understanding of scheduling, progress control, delay tracking, and reporting processes.

Applicants must be able to interpret architectural, structural, MEP, and interior design drawings. Excellent written and spoken English is required, while Arabic is an advantage. The ability to handle pressure and multiple deadlines is important.

A valid Saudi Council of Engineers membership is required or strongly preferred. A transferable Saudi Iqama is preferred, as are candidates already located in Saudi Arabia. Immediate joining or availability on short notice is also preferred.

Software and technical tools

Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project are key tools for this position. You should also be comfortable working with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, Power BI or similar dashboard tools, and ERP or project management systems are considered advantages.
