The business employs more than 350 people across farming operations in Millmerran, Queensland, about an hour west of Toowoomba. Its operations are vertically integrated and span chick rearing, grain production, stock feed milling, egg grading, and poultry production. Role Overview

This position sits within established production teams and involves fast, coordinated work to support bird welfare during catching and placement activities. The role is suited to someone who can work efficiently in a team, handle physical tasks, and adapt to early starts, evening shifts, and night work as required by bird welfare schedules. The roster is irregular, with working hours ranging from 60 to 80 per fortnight.

Key Duties

Tasks include loading and unloading birds safely and efficiently according to established procedures, working within intensive livestock systems, keeping the work area clean and orderly, and carrying out other assigned duties such as shed cleaning and gardening.

About You

The ideal candidate is physically capable, comfortable with repetitive manual work, and able to stay accurate while working in a demanding, time-sensitive environment. You should be cooperative, reliable, well-organised, and able to communicate clearly. Attention to detail is important for both husbandry and quality assurance tasks.

You will also need to be comfortable working around live birds, able to travel to different farm sites within 20 km of Millmerran using your own transport, and willing to work in dirty, dusty, and outdoor conditions in all weather.

Additional Requirements

A genuine interest in agriculture and rural work is essential, along with sufficient literacy and numeracy. Prior bird handling experience is not required, but you must be prepared for direct contact with live birds.

The role comes with strict biosecurity rules. These include showering and changing clothes and footwear before entering sites, not wearing jewellery on site except for medical ID jewellery, and signing a biosecurity agreement. Candidates must also be willing to avoid contact with avian species and must not keep live birds, chickens, or pigs at home.
