Role Summary

This position is for a Principal Engineer focused on 5G and C++ development in Gurugram, India. The role centers on designing and delivering advanced 5G RAN Layer 2 solutions, improving system performance, and leading technical execution across cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the design, development, and integration of 5G RAN Layer 2 components and solutions.
• Build and deliver advanced 5G capabilities while aligning implementations with 3GPP standards.
• Create and refine MAC scheduling approaches to enhance throughput, latency, reliability, and quality of service.
• Investigate complex technical issues, tune system performance, and carry out root-cause analysis and debugging.
• Work closely with PHY, RRC, Core, O-RAN, and test teams to produce complete end-to-end solutions.
• Promote strong engineering practices, encourage CI/CD adoption, lead technical reviews, and mentor team members.
• Contribute to product direction, innovation efforts, and customer-facing technical discussions.

Required Experience and Expertise

• Overall professional experience of 11+ years.
• Deep understanding of 5G NR architecture, including CU/DU split, FR1/FR2, O-RAN, and 3GPP specifications.
• Practical exposure to Layer 2 technologies such as MAC, RLC, PDCP, RRM, and advanced 5G features including Massive MIMO, RedCap, and NTN.
• Strong hands-on ability in C and C++ development, along with real-time multi-core Linux systems.
• Experience using Git, Jenkins, CI/CD workflows, and telecom test tools such as TM500, QXDM, and QCAT.
• Solid grasp of MAC scheduling, QoS optimization, system debugging, and performance improvement techniques.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
