Role Overview
This part-time, on-site Purchasing Manager position is based in Abu Dhabi and supports the organization’s procurement activities from end to end. The role focuses on sourcing the right goods and services, managing supplier interactions, and keeping purchasing aligned with project schedules and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities
You will handle the full purchasing cycle, from identifying needs and approaching suppliers to comparing quotations and finalizing contract terms. The role also involves building and maintaining strong vendor relationships, tracking supplier performance, and making sure deliveries arrive on time.
In addition, you will partner with program, finance, and operations teams to estimate demand, process purchase orders, and support budget control. Maintaining accurate procurement records, following internal policy requirements, and helping refine purchasing processes will also be part of the job.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate brings solid procurement and purchasing capability, including supplier sourcing, price and contract negotiation, and vendor performance oversight. You should be comfortable with budgeting, cost analysis, and basic financial reporting to support cost-efficient decisions.
Strong administrative ability and attention to detail are important for handling documentation, records, and purchase orders. You will also need effective communication and stakeholder management skills to work smoothly with cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with procurement policies, ethical buying standards, and compliance requirements is expected, preferably gained in nonprofit or international settings. Experience with procurement or ERP systems, along with strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills, is also important.
A bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent relevant experience may also be considered. Previous work in purchasing or supply chain is required, and experience in NGOs, mission-driven organizations, or public policy environments is an added advantage. The role requires the ability to work on-site in Abu Dhabi, manage several priorities at once, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced project setting. Professional English is required, and other regionally relevant languages are a plus.
