About Until
Until is a pioneering company dedicated to developing a "pause button" for biological processes. Our immediate objective is to achieve organ-scale reversible cryopreservation, enabling the preservation of donated organs at subzero temperatures without ice formation, followed by uniform rewarming for transplantation. This breakthrough aims to establish the groundwork for whole-body reversible cryopreservation, offering patients a vital bridge to future medical advancements.
To realize this ambitious goal, we are assembling a diverse team to innovate in areas such as perfusion systems, cryoprotectant formulations, and vitrification and rewarming technologies. We envision a future where the loss of transplantable organs due to logistical challenges is eliminated, and where terminal diagnoses are not final, as patients can await future medical breakthroughs.
About The Role
As a Research Associate in Molecular Development, you will be instrumental in driving the execution and analysis of high-throughput molecular discovery experiments using both in vitro models and tissue samples. The core of this position involves conducting, refining, and troubleshooting wet lab experiments, including mammalian cell culture, automated screening with liquid handling robotics, plate-reader assays, microscopy, and flow cytometry. This role offers the opportunity to take significant ownership of specific technical challenges and collaborate with colleagues to develop novel protocols and assays for screening and developing new molecules.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct high-throughput screening (HTS) assays to support the molecular discovery pipeline, employing automated liquid handlers.
- Execute microplate-based assays (fluorescence, luminescence, absorbance), microscopy, and genomics (qPCR, RNA-seq) experiments to advance the molecular discovery pipeline.
- Maintain and experiment with various mammalian cell-based in vitro models, including immortalized, primary, and stem cells.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to translate experimental findings into actionable solutions.
- Ensure the meticulous, accurate, and timely collection, analysis, and reporting of experimental data.
Who You Are
- Possess an undergraduate and/or master’s degree in Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Immunology, or a closely related scientific discipline.
- Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a comparable role, with a proven track record in performing complex laboratory procedures. Prior industry experience is advantageous.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of cryopreservation principles, including vitrification, cryoprotectants, and ice nucleation/growth dynamics.
- Exhibit the ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary laboratory setting and quickly acquire new skills across different scientific domains. Previous involvement in interdisciplinary projects merging biology and engineering is highly desirable.
- Have experience independently managing and working with mammalian cell lines. Prior experience with 3D in vitro models is strongly preferred.
- Show initiative, strong problem-solving capabilities, a passion for scientific discovery, and a commitment to advancing scientific frontiers through active participation in a challenging project.
