Security Coordinator

Role overview

Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital is seeking a qualified Security Coordinator to oversee the security unit in Kumasi. The role focuses on managing day-to-day operations, supervising security staff, maintaining standards, and supporting hospital management with reporting, planning, and security improvements.

Key duties

• Handle the everyday administration of the security unit.
• Lead, organize, direct, and monitor the security team so protection measures remain effective.
• Make sure guards and watchmen receive the training they need to perform well.
• Confirm that capable guards and watchmen are always deployed at their posts.
• Arrange inspection rounds across all security points.
• Ensure security rules, procedures, and standing orders are consistently observed.
• Plan and deliver training programmes for security personnel.
• Carry out investigations and periodic security audits across the hospital’s premises.
• Prepare and send regular unit reports to the Director of Administration.
• Draft annual plans and budgets as well as other necessary operational plans.
• Carry out decisions made by hospital management.
• Develop internal rules and regulations that help maintain standards and support quality care.
• Oversee implementation of the performance appraisal system for staff in the unit.
• Coordinate activities that promote best-practice security operations.
• Investigate theft, pilfering, disturbances, and assaults, then submit findings and recommendations.
• Educate staff on security-related matters.
• Report security issues to the Administration.
• Take on any other duties assigned by the Director of Administration.

Required qualifications and knowledge

• Applicants should have at least a first degree in Psychology or Management, along with training and knowledge in safety and security, or they should be a former security officer not below the rank of Chief Inspector or an equivalent level.
• Candidates must be 45 years old or younger.
• They should understand client relations.
• They need familiarity with the Ministry of Health security policies and procedures.
• They should know the administrative structure and operating procedures of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
• They must have knowledge of health, safety, and security practices.
• Strong leadership, honesty, self-motivation, discipline, goal orientation, and the ability to work under pressure are important personal qualities for this role.
