About the Role
Compass Community is looking for a dependable and hands-on School Site Manager to help keep the school’s buildings, grounds, and facilities safe, compliant, and in good working order. The role is central to creating a secure, well-run, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
Key Dates and Working Pattern

Working hours: Full-time, with flexibility for occasional work outside normal hours.
What the Role Involves
- Undertaking routine repairs and upkeep work, including basic carpentry, plumbing, and painting.
- Carrying out regular inspections and dealing quickly with maintenance concerns.
- Supporting compliance with health and safety standards, such as fire safety and water hygiene checks.
- Looking after outdoor spaces including playgrounds, pathways, and car parks.
- Helping with building security, opening and closing routines, and emergency situations.
- Recording completed tasks and supporting audits and inspections.
- Assisting with school events and communicating politely with staff, pupils, and visitors.
What We’re Looking For
You should bring practical experience in caretaking, facilities, or general building maintenance, along with a solid understanding of health and safety requirements. The ideal candidate will be able to complete minor repairs safely, work on their own initiative, and communicate clearly. A flexible, trustworthy, and child-centred approach is important.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience working in a school or education environment.
- Basic trade qualifications or NVQ-level training.
- Knowledge of fire safety and water hygiene procedures.
Requirements
- A full UK driving licence, if the role involves travelling between multiple sites.
- Willingness to complete DBS checks.
- Basic IT ability for logging jobs and sending emails.
