Site Reliability Engineer

Role overview

The SRE Compliance Services team focuses on making compliance at scale dependable, automated, and low-friction across Meraki's infrastructure. Rather than relying on manual checks, the group builds engineering systems, self-service tooling, and streamlined workflows that help Cisco Meraki keep customer trust while reducing operational overhead. The team works closely with Security, Risk, and SRE partners to ensure the right controls are easy to implement and sustain.

Key responsibilities

• Develop automation for compliance operations, including asset identification, scanning, and remediation flows.
• Own and maintain the Compliance Register as well as continuous monitoring capabilities.
• Connect security platforms such as RunZero, Qualys, and other vulnerability scanning tools into automated pipelines.
• Build policy-as-code approaches that continuously check infrastructure and application configurations against requirements.
• Produce dashboards and reports that clearly show the organization’s compliance status.
• Investigate and resolve compliance-related production issues across inventories, security tooling, and automated systems.
• Work with Security, Risk, and SRE teams to convert compliance needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Cut down repetitive work by creating guardrails, self-service utilities, and dependable compliance workflows.
• Take part in a sustainable on-call schedule of about 16 days per year.

Required qualifications

• Hands-on professional experience with Linux, cloud environments, automation, or live production systems.
• Working knowledge of at least one programming language; Python or Go is particularly valuable.
• Background in automation, infrastructure as code, configuration management, or operational tooling.
• Comfort using APIs and combining data from multiple systems or distributed services.
• Strong diagnostic and analytical ability, including experience troubleshooting issues in production.
• Interest in security, compliance, governance, or risk, especially as they relate to resilient infrastructure.
• Ability to explain technical topics clearly to colleagues from other functions.

Preferred experience

• Exposure to vulnerability management, asset discovery, SIEM, or compliance automation tools; experience with RunZero or Qualys is an added advantage.
• Familiarity with standards and frameworks such as FedRAMP, NIST, PCI, SOC 2, or ISO.
• Practical experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
• Experience using infrastructure-as-code or configuration management tools like Terraform or Ansible.
• Experience with observability, reporting, or data pipeline tools such as Grafana, ELK, or comparable platforms.
• Experience running containerized workloads with Docker, Kubernetes, or similar technologies.

Additional information

Prior direct experience in compliance is not as important as strong fundamentals, accountability, and the ability to learn quickly. The team values engineers who can transform manual work into reliable, scalable systems.
