Solution Architect (Cloud, DevOps & Security)

Role overview

This is a practical, hands-on opportunity for an experienced infrastructure or cloud specialist who works confidently within Azure and is ready to move into a focused solution architecture path. The position calls for strong technical depth and the ability to support deployments in real operating environments.

You will help steer client environments through important modernization work by promoting disciplined engineering practices, automation-led delivery, and governance built through code across cloud and hybrid setups.

Role details

• This is a permanent, full-time position.
• The main technical focus areas are Azure infrastructure, platform automation, and security controls.
• Based in Auckland CBD.
• Hybrid working applies, with 2 days each week required on site.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of platform design from initial requirements through to delivery.
• Design Infrastructure as Code approaches and create deployment patterns that are repeatable and reliable.
• Build security into the design by strengthening identity, access, and workload protection across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Work closely with engineering teams and external stakeholders, turning complex architecture decisions into clear technical direction.
• Advance modern engineering practices, automation pipelines, and governance models driven by code.

Technical background

• Strong practical experience with Azure, including compute, networking, and core storage services.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft security tools such as Entra ID, Defender for Endpoint, and Sentinel.
• Hands-on capability with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Azure Bicep.
• Experience with container platforms such as Kubernetes or AKS.
• Ideally, around 1 to 2 years of dedicated architecture experience, or a technical lead with practical solution design exposure who wants to step further into architecture.
• A professional background in infrastructure, cloud engineering, DevOps, or security consulting.

Preferred experience

• Azure, Kubernetes, or security architecture certifications are an advantage.
• Experience in regulated sectors or public sector settings would be beneficial.
• Exposure to cloud-native tools, CI/CD pipelines, and hybrid cloud environments is helpful.
