Role Overview
The company is hiring a Technical Procurement Specialist for its headquarters in Augsburg. This position is suited to someone who combines purchasing expertise with technical understanding and is comfortable working in a project-based, engineering-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Source welded assemblies and technical components using engineering drawings and related specifications.
- Work with leadership and engineering teams to design and roll out sourcing strategies for assigned commodity groups.
- Manage international procurement activities, with a particular focus on Eastern Europe.
- Request quotations, evaluate supplier offers, and negotiate pricing with technically capable vendors.
- Process purchase requisitions and maintain ordering activities in the ERP system.
- Track delivery timelines and initiate escalation steps when delays occur.
- Coordinate complaint handling together with quality assurance.
- Support supplier development, assess supplier performance, and improve the supplier base.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant has a technical or commercial vocational background with additional training in procurement, or a university degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a closely related field. Several years of buying experience are expected, ideally in mechanical engineering or plant engineering, including work with drawing-based parts and technical assemblies. Strong MS Office skills and hands-on experience with ERP systems are important; familiarity with generative AI or large language models is an added advantage. The role also calls for fluent business German, good spoken and written English, the ability to read technical drawings and specifications, and a structured, results-focused working style. Candidates should be comfortable with pressure in a project environment and open to digital transformation and AI-enabled work methods.
