Role Summary

The Assistant Planner supports the planning function by helping maintain healthy inventory positions, improving demand forecasts, and keeping product movement efficient across the beauty supply chain. This role is designed to build practical planning experience in a fast-moving retail environment.

The position works closely with merchandising, sales, logistics, and field teams to support business goals, strengthen product availability, and ensure stores receive timely information about inventory, launches, and priorities so execution at store level stays aligned with business needs.

Inventory Management and Allocation

  • Monitor stock levels for core and new items at SKU and store level to help keep inventory balanced.
  • Use analytical input to guide product allocation decisions and support sales performance.
  • Track purchase orders from creation through receipt, checking pricing, case pack details, and delivery timing.
  • Help manage replenishment planning throughout the season by reviewing sales and stock trends.
  • Support on-time receipt of inventory for launches and promotions such as holiday events, testers, and sampling, and flag any risks early.
  • Close purchase orders on a regular basis so replenishment systems reflect inventory correctly.

Forecasting and Reporting

  • Review the performance of new product launches and seasonal items, then help adjust forecasts, receipts, and inventory as needed.
  • Prepare weekly reporting on vendor and brand fill rates as well as lead-time accuracy.
  • Analyze store/location performance, top sellers, slow sellers, and sell-through trends.
  • Share weekly updates on business trends and stock continuity with relevant teams.
  • Work with planning partners to refine forecasts based on launch results, event timing, and changing business patterns.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication

  • Coordinate with internal and external partners, including Sephora and supply chain teams, to resolve PO issues and support on-time deliveries.
  • Escalate delayed key launches to the Planner and Merchant team with a focus on inventory strategy.
  • Partner with buying and merchandising teams to make sure SKUs are set up correctly for ordering.
  • Stay in regular contact with the logistics center to prepare for increased picking, deliveries, and sales cycles around key events.
  • Send timely updates to field teams on stock availability, launch timing, and key priorities to support strong store execution.
  • Provide practical guidance to field partners so they understand stock flow, merchandising focus areas, and risks that could affect store performance.

Systems and Data Management

  • Set up new SKUs in planning tools so purchasing, allocation, and replenishment can run accurately.
  • Maintain PO tracking logs with visibility into shipment status, delivery dates, and possible delays.
  • Review SKU lifecycle status and activate or deactivate items for replenishment based on assortment and inventory plans.
  • Keep data accurate across systems to support reporting, forecasting, and inventory visibility.
  • Assist with updates to merchandising and assortment systems for planogram revisions, new launches, and promotional setups.

Qualifications

Candidates should have experience in Supply Chain Management, Merchandising, or a related area. Prior experience of 1 to 2 years in planning, inventory control, or another analytical role is preferred, especially in beauty or retail.

The role calls for strong analytical thinking, advanced Excel skills, excellent organization, careful attention to detail, and clear written and verbal communication. Success in this job also requires the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented setting while balancing multiple priorities. Interest in the beauty industry and awareness of market trends are important.
