Role Overview

This position is responsible for checking and handling payment requests received from different internal channels across the bank.

Core Duties

  • Work mainly as a back-office support function with a strong focus on internal service delivery.
  • Ensure accuracy, control, and efficiency across all processing activities.
  • Identify training needs beyond the line manager’s recommendations and maintain productive working relationships across teams.
  • Support cost control by helping avoid unnecessary expenditure and wastage.
  • Review files received through Documentum and process payments in line with the standard operating procedure.
  • Examine documents and raise requests when information is incomplete, following SOP guidelines.
  • Validate online payments that land in the error queue and format them according to SWIFT requirements.
  • Create SWIFT messages for manual payment transactions as required by SOP.
  • Set up standing orders based on requests from branches.
  • Prepare manager’s cheques for client requests.
  • Index branch-submitted documents and inform dealers about high-value transactions as per SOP.
  • Prepare accounting entries for AML-rejected payments and route them to the approver for review and action.
  • Coordinate with branches to resolve and close pending queries.
  • Make sure payment items are completed within the cut-off time and suggest process improvements to the line manager.
  • Assist with user acceptance testing for system or process changes when required by internal policy.
  • Perform regular reconciliation of suspense and GL accounts and ensure receivables and payables are properly reflected.
  • Handle PRIME postings manually when required.
  • Process transaction vouchers received from internal departments.
  • Receive and verify posting and payroll documents.
