Backend Engineer - Payments (Java)

The Payments team is working to reshape digital payments through crypto-based payment solutions. This role is for someone who wants to help create seamless, accessible transaction experiences and contribute to the future of financial technology.

What you will do

• Design and deliver financial product features such as wallets, payment gateways, cash rebate flows, and merchant management tools.
• Develop open API capabilities for core financial products.
• Partner closely with product managers to define, design, and implement features that support the payment platform.
• Improve system performance, investigate and resolve production incidents, and take part in platform refactoring.
• Produce clean, reliable, and maintainable code following sound engineering standards.

What we are looking for

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or comparable industry experience.
• 3 to 6 years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong command of core Java and working familiarity with the Spring framework.
• Strong experience with MySQL and exposure to at least one NoSQL database.
• Solid understanding of distributed system architecture, plus familiarity with at least one messaging middleware and its design principles.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating across teams.
• Ability to work in both English and Mandarin, which is required for coordination with overseas partners and stakeholders.

Preferred background

• Hands-on experience with Spring Cloud and microservice architecture.
• Experience in the fintech domain is a plus.
• Interest or experience in building backends, APIs, libraries, and SDKs.
• Exposure to performance optimization across JVM, SQL, RPC, or related layers.
• Prior experience managing global teams is advantageous.
