Role overview
This is a remote, US-based contract opportunity for an experienced Data Analyst. The position pays $75 to $90 per hour and calls for 3 to 5+ years of relevant experience. You will work with messy, multi-source information and transform it into usable datasets, dependable dashboards, and clear reports that help leaders understand current performance and likely future trends.
The hiring client is a cloud-first managed services and consulting organization and an AWS Premier partner that designs and operates cloud environments for public sector and commercial customers. The data environment is realistic, imperfect, and often open-ended, so this role suits someone who can work through ambiguity with very little supervision.
What you will do
- Collect information from primary and secondary sources such as surveys, application tracking systems, and public datasets, then organize it into a usable format.
- Prepare raw data for analysis by removing duplicates, correcting errors, filtering noise, and identifying outliers.
- Support and improve databases and data systems, including troubleshooting coding mistakes and resolving database-related issues.
- Use statistical methods to study datasets and uncover trends and patterns that support diagnostic and predictive analysis.
- Create dashboards, reports, and visual materials that communicate findings clearly, including executive summaries of trends and forecasts.
- Document your process in enough detail that another stakeholder could reproduce the analysis step by step.
- Partner with developers, engineers, architects, and business leaders to identify process improvements, recommend system enhancements, and contribute to data governance decisions.
Requirements
- At least 3 to 5+ years of experience as a Data Analyst or in a comparable role, preferably in professional services or consulting.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in a related discipline such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics.
- Strong coding ability in Python or R, along with solid SQL skills and experience managing databases.
- Practical understanding of data warehousing concepts and data integration methods.
- Hands-on experience with at least one business intelligence platform, such as Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences.
- AWS experience is expected, and AWS Cloud Practitioner certification is mandatory.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment with minimal direction.
- Preferred qualification: AWS Certified Data Analytics Specialty.
Why this role stands out
You will be part of a team that supports production cloud environments for organizations where the work has real operational impact. Your analysis will directly inform decision-making rather than disappearing into an unused presentation. The work offers variety, significant ownership, and the chance to deepen your AWS expertise in a cloud-native setting.
