You will carry out habitat surveys, prepare ecological documentation, and guide the team on biodiversity enhancement and mitigation approaches. The aim is to help projects meet environmental requirements while still supporting creative and sustainable design outcomes.

The employer also covers professional membership fees, supports ongoing professional development and training, offers a pension scheme, and provides a collaborative studio environment with genuine scope for progression as the practice continues to grow.
Key responsibilities

- Prepare detailed ecological assessments and reports to a high standard.
- Provide ecological input for planning submissions and biodiversity net gain matters.
- Work with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities as needed.
- Help embed ecological considerations into landscape design proposals.
Requirements
Applicants should hold a degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a closely related subject, along with relevant experience in consultancy or a similar setting. A solid understanding of UK wildlife law and planning policy is essential, as is practical experience with survey techniques and report preparation. Membership of, or progression toward membership of, a relevant professional organisation such as CIEEM is preferred. Strong communication and organisational skills are also important.
About the employer
The practice is an award-winning consultancy known for innovative and sustainable landscape solutions across the UK. Its culture is described as friendly, inclusive, and collaborative, with a strong interest in creating places that are both visually appealing and ecologically valuable. This opportunity suits an ecologist who wants to progress their career in a supportive and ambitious environment.
