We are seeking a skilled Engineering Manager with experience in Adtech/Retail Media to lead a team of engineers across different countries, particularly the UK. The role involves developing products that enable retailers to transform their Retail Media business, maximizing ad revenue and achieving massive scale.
Role Overview
As an Engineering Manager, you will be instrumental in designing and delivering high-quality software solutions. Your responsibilities will include leading a team, mentoring engineers, contributing to system architecture, and ensuring adherence to engineering best practices. Technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a results-oriented approach are crucial for success in this role.
What you will be doing?
- Lead and manage a team of software engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Collaborate with product managers and architects to define technical roadmaps.
- Oversee the design, development, and delivery of .NET Core based solutions utilizing a microservices architecture.
- Implement and enforce best practices for coding, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain a balance between meeting delivery timelines and upholding technical excellence.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant standards for security and quality.
- Drive innovation and spearhead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Enhance engineering processes and boost developer productivity.
- Coach, train, and mentor junior team members.
What you need to succeed?
- Experience: A minimum of 9 years in software development, with at least 3 years in leadership positions.
- Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in JAVA, C#, .NET Core, and related frameworks.
- Architecture & Design: Deep understanding of design patterns, SOLID principles, system design, and engineering best practices.
- Databases: In-depth knowledge of Relational Databases (SQL, PostgreSQL). Familiarity with BigQuery, Redis, and Elasticsearch is advantageous.
- Microservices & Messaging: Experience with Microservices architecture, Event-Driven Architecture (e.g., RabbitMQ, Google Pub/Sub), and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- DevOps: Experience with DevOps tools and practices, including GitLab CI/CD.
- Cloud Platforms: Proven experience with cloud platforms like GCP (preferred) or Azure.
- Distributed Systems: Deep understanding of distributed systems, multi-tenant services, cloud-native applications, and Unix/Linux environments.
- Testing: Knowledge of the Testing Pyramid approach and relevant tools for each level.
- Code Quality & Security: Familiarity with code quality and secure code scanning tools such as SonarQube, Checkmarx, ESLint, Resharper, and Trivy.
- SDLC & Agile: Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
- Leadership: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team.
- Observability: Hands-on experience with observability tools like New Relic.
- Domain Knowledge: Knowledge of the AdTech or Retail domain is a plus.
