Role Overview

The Expediter role is centered on keeping food service moving smoothly by coordinating communication between the kitchen and service teams. The position ensures outgoing dishes are prepared, presented, and delivered to a high standard.

Responsibilities

• Take in and process incoming food orders.
• Track and time tickets so kitchen turnaround stays within standard expectations.
• Act as the communication link between servers and kitchen staff.
• Complete plates according to recipe and presentation guidelines.
• Perform a final check for presentation, temperature, garnish, and timeliness before food leaves the kitchen.
• Work with food runners to ensure dishes are delivered promptly.
• Keep the expediter station clean, orderly, and properly stocked for the shift.

Requirements

• Ability to remain mobile for the full shift.
• Basic reading, writing, arithmetic, and verbal communication ability.
• Capacity to clean shelves and counters and pick up debris from the floor.
• Ability to react appropriately in emergency situations to prevent danger to self or others.

Physical Requirements

This position involves active movement throughout the restaurant and regular interaction with guests. The role also requires handling and moving items weighing up to 5 pounds routinely, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds. Bending and stooping are part of the job. Good vision is needed to assess cleanliness across the restaurant and to use a touchscreen. Reasonable accommodations may be available for qualified candidates with disabilities.
